Obama Administration Attacks Catholic University
In a ploy to harass and exercise control over a Catholic university, the NLRB tells St. Xavier University, the oldest Catholic school in Illinois, that it's "a secular educational institution or university."
The totalitarianism of Obama and the Democrats marches on.
But Obama's NLRB is also claiming the authority to dictate labor policies and order union elections at Catholic universities if they are not religious enough.
St. Xavier University was founded in 1846, the oldest Catholic school in Illinois. Its corporate member is a Catholic body with the "powers for the governance of" St. Xavier, that "links the University to the [Catholic] Church and makes it an officially recognized member of the Church."
St. Xavier's Board of Trustees must have at least four nuns from the order that founded the school, and, according to its bylaws, its governing body must "ensure [St. Xavier] continues its educational and religious mission."
After quoting these sources and many others, NLRB's regional director concluded in true Orwellian fashion that "the evidence establishes" that St. Xavier is "a secular educational institution or university."
The totalitarianism of Obama and the Democrats marches on.
The Big Guy Playing College Football
My son, Alex, began his college football career at Georgetown College a couple of weeks ago. So far, he's enjoying success. Last week he made the trip with the varsity to scrimmage Hanover College, one of 4 or so freshmen to do so.
Here's a couple of pictures another player's parents were kind enough to take and send to me. He's number 72 in the huddle waiting for the next play to be called.
Here he's at the center/right of the photo blocking number 99.
Georgetown has an excellent football program and is ranked in the NAIA top 10 preseason. I'm proud of my son for his hard work in football and academics that brought him this far. He's enabled himself to attend an excellent school with the aid of significant academic and athletic scholarships. And, I'm thankful to Georgetown College's coaches, staff and administration for giving him this opportunity.

Obama Decides to Keep Illegal Aliens in the U.S.
More U.S. jobs going to illegals and more illegal mouths for our economy to feed.
The money quote:
for months has said he does not have broad categorical authority to halt deportations and said he must follow the laws as Congress has written them.
Obama believes he can do anything he can get away with and Congress has shown a willingness to let him get away with a lot, war in Libya...
Bowing to pressure from immigrant rights activists, the Obama administration said Thursday that it will halt deportation proceedings on a case-by-case basis against illegal immigrants who meet certain criteria, such as attending school, having family in the military or having primary responsible for other family members’ care.Emphasis added.
The move marks a major step for President Obama, who for months has said he does not have broad categorical authority to halt deportations and said he must follow the laws as Congress has written them.
But in letters to Congress on Thursday, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said she does have discretion to focus on “priorities” and that her department and the Justice Department will review all ongoing cases to see who meets the new criteria.

Liberals in Wisconsin Attack 60 Year Old Lady Outside of Capital
How long will it be before Madison, Wisconsin becomes like London? Liberals are already attacking a 60 year old lady who dares video their protest outside the capital building.
More and more liberals portray their true nature. If democracy doesn't work, they'll use force and intimidation. They preach their gospel of hate and feel no need to restrain from attacking those they hate. Make no mistake about it, the liberal mantra is one of hate. Hate the rich, hate corporations, hate conservatives, hate religion, hate true freedom, ...
Be prepared and be careful out there.

Ding Dong, Government Calling
Chinese Daredevil Doesn't Nearly Fall to His Death
Watch the video and see if you can see what Fox News couldn't.
The tight rope walker has a tether attached to his waist. Had he not caught himself, he wouldn't have fallen more than a few feet. The tether is easily visible at the end of the video and looks like a tail behind the walker.
If they can't get this right, what do they get right? (Don't kid yourself and think the others are any better.)

Rich Elitist Democrat Wants The Rest of Us to Be Ignored
John Kerry argues that the media should not give equal time to the Tea Party.
This is the guy, who in 2007, said he wanted the Fairness Doctrine reimposed. Guess we know how he wants it reimposed, in an unfair manner where the media doesn't give time to those with whom he disagrees.
In the mean time, "the Canadian province of Saskatchewan has gone from a 'fiscal mess' to a debt upgrade by following Tea Party-like policies." The rich elite want us to keep our mouths shut and follow quietly.

A Reminder From 2009: One Resaon the Economy Is So Bad
Robert Reich, Obamas economic advisor doesnt want recovery jobs for "White Male Construction Workers" and Charlie Rangel says the middle class won't fight back.
As I said a couple of posts ago, if you want your country to be successful, you have to be committed to the success of all. Obama and his administration have been committed to pitting groups against each other. Success for any group holds secondary importance to Obama, power matters first. Divide and conquer is their strategy.

Another Threat to Our Constitutional Rights
Proposed U.N. treaty threatens U.S. gun owners.
You may not care much about guns and shooting, but remember, if they can take away one of your constitutional rights, they can take away all your constitutional rights.

Attilla and the Reds
I've seen this car and its vanity plate a few times. I like figuring out the vanity plates that are a little puzzle. This one makes perfect sense when you consider the make of the car.
Last Saturday, I had free tickets to the Reds - Giants game at Great American Ballpark. Really good seats given to me by my workplace, 9 rows up behind home plate. The Reds prevailed in an easy win, 5 runs in the first inning. Below, Alex and Julia pose in front of their seats. (For those of you who don't follow this blog closely, yes, he is a football player.)

Obama's Failure of Leadership
Posting a comment at Althouse about Obama being over his head regarding the economy, a little extra insight about leadership struck me. Most of us have heard the line about a leader works to insure every one's success. Nothing really new there. But, the reality of the principle struck me a little deeper than usual.
On a sports team, if a coach works to ensure all the players are as successful as they can be or want to be, you're going to have a pretty good, even great, team. If the coach convinces all the players to work hard and help each other succeed on and off the field of play, the team is better.
As a parent, I've considered helping my kids be successful as my greatest labor of love. Not a duty, not an obligation (although it is), but a labor of love. If you love your kids, you help them succeed. This doesn't mean do it for them, but to do your best to help them attain the skills and attitudes it takes to succeed.
Surprisingly, over the years, I've seen more failure to do this than to do it. I've met men who married a trim, beautiful woman and then were happy when their wife became fat because no one else would want her then. Seems a rather perverted love and certainly not one of helping his wife have the most successful life possible.
I've seen parents who seemed threatened by or jealous of their children's successes. They would react in critical, uncooperative ways that hindered their child's success.
Companies that don't invest time and energy in helping their employees reach their personal goals fail or flounder in mediocrity.
Obama's style of leadership fails to help everyone succeed. Instead, he pits the rich against the poor. He pits races against each other when it suits his political needs. He'll promise success to one group at the cost of another group. He perpetrated the idea that you can have a successful life without effort but, rather, at the expense of others who are somehow holding you back. He creates a house divided against itself.
These may be ways to win enough votes to be elected, but, ultimately, these are the paths to failure, or, at best, mediocrity.
