I'd wager that Bill O'Reilly would loudly express offense if anyone painted Protestants or Catholics with the same brush of oversimplification he is using. Luckily for him, there is a built in American set of double standards that whitewashes our own history and allows us to disconnect our own terrifying criminals from the groups to which they belonged.

Americans love to see all Muslims as responsible for the actions of a lunatic few, while excusing the very same horrors from the groups to which they belong.

How else should we react to the century of Protestant participation in Christian-based terrorism in the form of the Ku Klux Klan. Hell, they even came complete with a marketing image many Southerners refuse to take off our state flags or from our state capitals.

This also means bad things for Catholics. After all, a small number of individuals representing that Church sexually abused young children even as some members of the heirarchy covered it up for years.

It doesn't excuse the walkout, because nonsense like this has to be countered using even emotions and factually based arguments.
 

As I remember with the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and their acts of violence and terrorism, no one disputed calling them Catholics. It was Muslims, acting according to their radical Muslim beliefs, that attacked us.

If Behar and Goldberg wanted to behave intelligently, they would have discussed what you point out, is it all Muslims or a a radical faction. Instead, they display the stupidity all to often in left thinking individuals, fingers in their ears going "la, la, la, la, ..."
