Hitting the Big Time
Over the past few days, Maysville has had more high visibility activity than it usually does in a year.
Last Saturday, as previously posted, the local high school, Mason County High School, won the Kentucky high school basketball championship.
Monday George Clooney premiered his new movie "Leatherheads" at Washington Opera House in downtown Maysville.
Not to be outdone, the "notorious prevaricator," Bill Clinton, showed up on Tuesday and gave a campaign speech for Hillary at the "Field House," i.e. the high school's gymnasium that seats over 8,000.
Maysville had big days in the past but I doubt if there's been so much activity is such a short period of time.

He grew up about 15 miles down the road in Augusta, KY. Augusta is very small. No theaters. His dad, Nick Clooney, shows up at our church ever so often. Rosemary Clooney's wedding and funeral were at our church.
I've never met George but I know many who grew up with him. Despite his politics, I've never heard anyone criticize him. They all say he was a good guy growing up.
