Combatting a Wave of Hate

The National Council of La Raza apparently feels it needs to combat "a wave of hate". La Raza's evidence of this hate comes from "from talk radio's efforts to sink the Senate's immigration bill."

Hate? I haven't seen evidence of hate towards Hispanics. Not supporting an amnesty bill that would have given an easy path to citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants is not an act of hate but one of supporting due process and of supporting legal immigrants. Indeed, if look at history, Hispanics, in the last few decades, have been welcomed into this country much more positively than the Irish, Italians, Polish, Africans or virtually any other ethnic/racial group except Anglo/Saxons.

La Raza plays the hate/race card because they have nothing else to stand on. They want quick and easy citizenship for people whose first act in this country was an illegal act. Of course, their approach is likely to create friction that will then be labeled "hate." Therefore creating the self-fulfilling prophecy they desire.

Comments:
you are correct... play the hate card. I see this happen on a few BLOG sites e.g. Politico. They think its the USA vs. Mexicans.

I am underwhelmed by these folks LaRaza. They only look for chinks in the armor.

But these people do the work that no one else whats to do? Oh Really? That is not what the statistics say... 21% are in construction $20 to $29 per hr.
31% are in Sevices, and only 4% to 6% are picking crops. Others are in sales, their own businesses etc.

I have little sympathy for the plight of the Illegal Alien when I look at the arrest sheets and the 100,s and 1,000's of these people that bring this Nation harm and grief. This is who LaRaza is protecting. And when this was brought to them by 'a regular guy' and showed them the facts, the list of gangs, the killings... Ya know what their answer was?? Well its only a few that are doing this.

hummmm.... perfect logic for people that are compelled to play the hate/race card.

And since I am on a rant. Over two hours of Democratic 'debate' on CNN today and zippo in Illegal Immigration. I do not find fault with the Youtube folks. It is the Editors the chose which questions make to the stage. And no discussion on this? Give these folks a quarter to go buy themselves a clue on what is important.
