Best Reason to Exercise You'll See Today

Ugh. Man fused to chair after sitting for 2 years.
A morbidly obese Ohio man was in the hospital Tuesday after police found him fused to a chair he had not moved from in two years and were forced to cut a hole in the wall of his house just to get him out, WTRF-TV reported.

.....

One officer said it was the worst thing he had ever responded to. Another told the local TV station he had to throw away his uniform after helping remove the man from the chair.
Years ago, when my ex-wife worked at a large hospital, they had to cut the side out of a motor home to get out a lady who had had a heart attack. The lady hadn't left the motor home for several years while she drank whiskey and her husband traveled the country. She had grown too large to fit through the doorway.

Ugh.

I'll MIss Him

Saturday we drove to Georgetown College to attend a banquet for incoming freshmen who will be receiving academic scholarships. My son will be receiving academic and football scholarships to Georgetown.

We all had a wonderful time and I beamed with pride in my son the entire time. I'm overjoyed that he's reaping the rewards for the hard work he's put in plus receiving recognition.

Little did I think Saturday about his leaving. But, my daughter did. She and her brother have always been close. He's quite protective of her. Despite their teasing and occasional bickering of each other, they seem to have a strong mutual admiration society going.

My daughter posted the picture below, I took for her with her iPhone, on Facebook.

Her short comment brought a tear to my eye. It's hard watching you brothers and sons (and eventually daughter for me) grow up and leave home. We'll all miss him, but we'll rejoice in his success and cheer his accomplishments. And, we'll love him as much as ever.

What Do Unions in Wisconsin Fear Most? Their Members.

From Da Techguy
Walker was accused over and over of trying to bust the union but was willing to compromise on collective bargaining but that’s not what the unions fear. What the unions fear the most are their members.

Why do you think they were so insistent on card check? Why do you think they were so interested in eliminating the secret ballot? It is all about the ability to intimidate. If union membership actually provided enough of a benefit to the majority of their members they would not worry about the state forcing dues collection. People would be anxious to join and willing to pay. The truth is for many union membership has become all about supporting the leadership that supports the democrats and gains the majority of the benefits therein.
Remember all those signs about freedom the protesters carried? As anyone watching with an objective eye knows, the unions (and Democrats) idea of freedom consists of forcing you to join and forcing you to pay dues and forcing the government to automatically deduct the dues from your paycheck and forcing the taxpayers to pay for all this.

Remember the signs about democracy? The unions (and Democrats) idea of democracy is preventing duly elected officials from passing laws, budgets and performing other activities of government they were elected to do.

Remember at election time that the unions and Democrats don't care about the working taxpayer whose supposed to support all this. Stop paying for their extravagance with your tax dollars.

Will This Make Anyone Re-Think Their Position on Abortion?

Social Life Begins in the Womb. A study was done of twins still in the womb.
When reaching toward the co-twin—especially around the eyes and mouth—their motion was relatively slow and delicate. When the fetuses touched themselves, on the other hand, they were less cautious (although they approached their own eyes and mouth more gingerly than other parts of their body). They were roughest toward the uterine wall, kicking and shoving it with force. “In some very primitive form,” Castiello says, “it appears that the fetus by the second trimester already has a sense of ‘self’ that is different from ‘other.’ ”

Do Sloanie and Tracy on WLW Use Fake Callers?

For several months now I've wondered if Tracy Jones on WLW radio has been using fake callers. Tracy currently partners with Scott Sloan and claim to be the number 1 radio show in the Cincinnati region. Previously, Tracy paired with Eddie Fingers who was apparently fired over a salary dispute.

I first began wondering when Tracy had a "Dr. William Bradford", supposedly from San Francisco, call in to his show several times a talk about parent/child relationships. Holding a B.A. in psychology, having worked in mental health and social services for 10 years, plus my father having been a clinical psychologist, I recognized that much of what "Dr. Bradford" said was bizarre and ridiculous. Although, almost anyone could recognize that.

I searched the web for a Dr. William Bradford in California, including the state licensing boards. I found some William Bradfords, but none in the area of psychology, child/parent relationships or a doctor of any sort.

There has also been a recurring caller named "Richard" purportedly from Indian Hills, an ultra rich bedroom community outside of Cincinnati. Richard played the rich, conceited, arrogant rich guy.

Today Sloan and Jones were talking about the theft of $600 worth of Girl Scout cookies from 9 year old twin girls. A "girl" claiming to be a friend of the twins called in and Jones went into a rant about irresponsibility and made the "girl" "cry".

Callers went wild calling Jones a jerk, which he is but that's another story. Jones acted like he didn't realize he had been a jerk. But, the whole thing seemed obviously staged.

Doing a little more searching on the web today what did I find? An article at Radio Daze claiming that Premiere on Call, a subsidiary Clear Channel, WLW's parent company, provides fake callers for radio shows.
But what exactly was the work? The question popped up during the audition and was explained, the actor said, clearly and simply: If he passed the audition, he would be invited periodically to call in to various talk shows and recite various scenarios that made for interesting radio. He would never be identified as an actor, and his scenarios would never be identified as fabricated—which they always were.

“I was surprised that it seemed so open,” the actor told me in an interview. “There was really no pretense of covering it up.”

Curious, the actor did some snooping and learned that Premiere On Call was a service offered by Premiere Radio Networks, the largest syndication company in the United States and a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications, the entertainment and advertising giant.

.....

The actors hired by Premiere to provide the aforementioned voice talents sign confidentiality agreements and so would not go on the record. But their accounts leave little room for doubt. All of the actors I questioned reported receiving scripts, calling in to real shows, pretending to be real people. Frequently, one actor said, the calls were live, sometimes recorded in advance, but never presented on-air as anything but real.

Michael Harrison, the editor of Talkers Magazine, the talk-radio world’s leading trade publication, said he knew nothing of this particular service but was not altogether surprised to hear that it was in place. There was, he said, a tradition of “creating fake phone calls for the sake of entertainment on some of the funny shows, shock jocks shows, the kind of shows you hear on FM music stations in the morning, they would regularly have scenarios, crazy scenarios of people calling up and doing pranks.”

Rachel Nelson, a Premiere Radio Networks spokesperson, defended the Premiere on Call service and said that responsibility for how it is employed falls ultimately to those who use it.
I don't know if Sloan and Jones use Premiere on Call or other fake callers. But, I'd be surprised if they don't use some sort of fake caller scheme given the content and nature of some of their calls.

As for me, I'll listen to old time rock and roll rather than fake radio.

My Daughter Never Really Wanted to Be a Girl Scout, Now I'm Glad

Via DA TECH GUY: Planned Parenthood, teaching our girl scouts to be “Hot”:
Planned parenthood is certainly trying to earn their name with this nonsense, because if kids follow this advice they’d better plan for parenthood:
The World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides hosted a no-adults-welcome panel at the United Nations this week where Planned Parenthood was allowed to distribute a brochure entitled “Healthy, Happy and Hot.” The event was part of the annual United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) which concludes this week.
Because this is exactly what Girl Scouts (Girl Guides is the English Version) is all about learning how to be hot.

And of course why stop there:
The New York Times recently reported that UN Population Fund had co-sponsored a very controversial curriculum with UNESCO, that included teaching children as young as five to be sexually active and training adolescents to advocate for abortion.
More from Stacy McCain:
Those of you old enough to think of Girl Scouts in terms of crafts, camping and cooking are probably astonished by this, but it is becoming increasingly obvious that the national Girl Scouts organization has been hijacked by radical feminists.

Might as well send them camping with Charlie Sheen . . .
This story was reported by Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute last year. Here's the brochure, "A Young Person's Guide to Their Rights, Sexuality and Living with HIV". Quotes from the brochure:
If you want to have sex and think you might get drunk or high, plan ahead by bringing condoms and lube or putting them close to where you usually have sex.

.....

Sometimes people choose not to have safer sex. If this is something you and your partner agree to, then it is your choice. It is not always possible to talk to your partner(s) about or to practise safer sex — for example, maybe you know that your partner will get angry or aggressive, or you don’t have access to condoms or a safe place to have sex.

.....

Some countries have laws that say people living with HIV must tell their sexual partner(s) about their status before having sex, even if they use condoms or only engage in sexual activity with a low risk of giving HIV to someone else. These laws violate the rights of people living with HIV by forcing them to disclose or face the possibility of criminal charges
It's OK not to tell your sexual partner(s) you're HIV positive? But, I digress.

Looks like Planned Parenthood is trying to drum up business at the expense of millions of girls. I tell my children that their friends will do them more harm than their enemies could ever hope to do. Their friends will encourage them to do the wrong thing, tempt them in many ways and lead them down the wrong path in the name of fun and friendship while we are on guard against our enemies. Make sure your kids realize that Planned Parenthood is a bad friend, a very bad friend. Worse than an enemy.

Are Women Better Than Men - Dan Abrams Thinks So

Following a lead in a comment by ZorroPrimo at DrHelen regarding a book by Dan Abrams, Man Down: Irrefutable Proof that Women are Better Than Men, I found absurd assertions as his irrefutable proof.

In the sample chapter, Abrams says women are better than men because women get struck by lightning less, supposedly win more at gambling and men feel worse after break ups. Sounds to me like Abrams decided to join the money train of male bashing books while the getting is good.

Naturally, men get struck by lightning more because they're outside more and take more risks. The gambling study was done in Britain. The results won't carry over to women everywhere, maybe no where else. Also, only about 5% of the gamblers studied were women. This would indicate that women are smarter about gambling. They don't do it. As far as being smart gamblers, it's quite likely that gambling women are much less representative of women in general than male gamblers are of men since so few women gamble.

Is it better to be less bothered by relationship break ups? Obviously, one doesn't want to be too upset, but to be too little upset is a sign of sociopathy. Is sociopathy better?

One thing's for sure. the inferior Dan Abrams going to make a lot of money selling a male bashing piece of trash to men-hating women and prolong our societies hostility to men. Or, given the quality of his "proof," maybe he's written a sly piece of humor.

Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown Says If You're Against Unions, You're Like Hitler and Stalin, or not.

Is there any thing the unions didn't do? Should we re-write the story of creation so that unions get their due(s). Sorry, unions representing public employees should have limited power, if allowed at all.

The unions did NOT create the middle class. Unions primarily represent the working class and always have in the U.S.

But, of course, I waste my time expecting a Democrat to be truthful.

Ohio Union Members Threaten State Senators in Restuarant

More evidence that unions care nothing about rights, only thuggish behavior to intimidate others. Remember, these are the people who want to force you to pay taxes to support their plush benefits and pensions in jobs almost impossible to fire them from.
After the vote on Senate Bill 5, seven Republican senators, including President Tom Niehaus, R-New Richmond, grabbed dinner at the Easy Street Cafe. As the lawmakers neared the end of their meal, a group of five to 10 union supporters angry about the passage of the bill hours before burst into the restaurant and began shouting.

The commotion eventually led to pushing and shoving with the restaurant staff and owner, before police arrived to calm the situation as a police helicopter hovered overhead. No senators were involved in the physical altercations, and no charges have been filed.

"It could have (gotten physical)," said Sen. Frank LaRose, 31, a Fairlawn Republican who served as a Green Beret. "The group was agitated and they were shoving the owner, and he had nothing to do with this."

LaRose said it didn't take special intelligence training to notice that while the lawmakers were eating, a woman walked past the window several times, poked her head in the door and got on her cell phone.

"It was planned," LaRose said. "They gathered as a group and waited until they had about 10 people before they caused a disturbance."
I wonder how many of them wore brown shirts.
